The Financial Services Department is committed to providing timely, accurate, clear and complete information and support to other city departments, citizens and the community.

Responsible Management, Custody, Stewardship

The Financial Services Department is responsible for the overall management, custody and control of the financial affairs of the City. As a service department, we provide the accounting, reporting and purchasing functions within the city.

Key Functions

  • City customer and taxpayer services, inquiries and billing.
  • Rate information for property tax, electricity, water and sewer, licenses and fees.
  • Producing and publishing annual reports, budgets, and financial statements.
  • Supporting city departments with statistical graphs, charts and presentationsn

Our Mission

To provide stewardship over the City financial well-being, to ensure that city finances are administered with responsibility, to support city departments with accurate information by enabling and managing statistical reporting systems to improve accountability and efficiency, and to oversee or conduct purchases which are approriate, equitable and timely for the city's goals.

The City of Summerside’s 2017 Budget was presented and approved on January 23, 2017. Specific highlights of the City’s $49 million 2017 Budget include: A general fund balanced budget for the City of Summerside, for the 22nd consecutive year.
