• Responsible for the planning and construction of City Infrastructure and for providing technical assistance to other departments.
  • Staffed by a Municipal Engineer, Assistant Municipal Engineer, and Electrical Engineer.  Construction of most City buildings is overseen by the Technical Services Director.
  • Responsible for the planning, design and construction of the following types of projects:
    • new and replacement of water and sewer mains
    • water supply, storage, and treatment systems
    • sewage pumping and treatment systems
    • street construction and resurfacing
    • new and replacement sidewalks
    • ditch filling and street upgrades
    • new and replacement storm drainage systems
    • trails and parklands
    • City buildings
    • electrical generation and substation upgrades
    • electrical distribution line upgrades
    • traffic and pedestrian signals

2015 Construction Projects

  • Responsible for the following other functions:
    • review all development applications regarding water, sewer, and electric services as well as drainage and street access
    • make recommendations regarding street layout and traffic signage, markings, and signals
    • recommend priorities for infrastructure projects.
    • prepare and administer the Municipal Development Standards and Standard Specifications for Municipal Services used for the design and construction of City infrastructure
    • administer Construction Agreements for developments that require extension of municipal infrastructure.
    • obtain and analyze traffic data
