Car accident causes power outage

Published on Tuesday November 1st, 2016

Car destroyed by fire in motor vehicle accident

Early Sunday morning (October 30th), shortly before 1 am, Summerside Police Services responded to a report of a car on fire on MacKenzie Drive.  When police arrived, the car was fully engulfed in flames.  The vehicle struck an electrical power box.

Police located the only two occupants of the vehicle not far from the car.  The male driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, while the male passenger was uninjured.  Both occupants of the vehicle are under 18 years of age.

It does appear that speed may have been a factor in this accident, and the matter remains under investigation at this time.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Summerside Police Services at (902) 432-1201.
