If your driveway has a culvert and it is in need of repair or replacement you may be eligible to have this work done by the City at no cost to you.

A common problem seen with driveway culverts is the development of a "frost heave" which is caused by water below the culvert freezing and expanding.  Below is a picture of a typical culvert in need of attention due to a frost heave.

If you believe your culvert requires attention please contact the Municipal Services Deparment using our online form http://city.summerside.pe.ca/municipal-services/contact-information/.  In order to determine if you are eligible for work under the City Ditch and Culvert Policy our friendly staff will need to know:

  • Your name and telephone number
  • The address of the driveway that you think may need work
  • A brief explanation of the problem (for example "My driveway has a large bump in it" or "My culvert has become plugged with dirt".

After you have made your request one of our friendly staff members will be in touch to let you know if you qualify for a free repair.  Culvert repairs normally happen between June and September.
