Snow Plowing and Salting

The update on our plowing and salting as that crews were out salting at 4:30 and after 1 hour we pulled the salt trucks off the road and called the plows out and which were on the roads roughly around 6:00 am we are just getting the salt trucks out now again behind the plows to try and cut the packed snow creating washboard effect on roads and the salt trucks should be back on the road around 8:15 am.   Please be reminded that plowing takes… read more

With the deluge of rain experienced in the wee hours of the morning there has been reports of build up of rain water not getting away from the streets. After completing our snow plowing overnight, we have dispatched crews to go investigate all areas of water build up and are working to have them properly drain away to storm drains and ditches. Snow plowing and Salting Report as of 13:00 hours: The Salt trucks are continuing salting the roads, main and secondary roads.  Efforts will continue until late this afternoon when weather is to abate.     Snow plowing and Salting Report as of 08:00 hours: The Salt trucks were dispatched at 5:45 a.m.  The main collectors are getting the salt and the side roads will be salted after plowing. The Snow plows were dispatched at 7:30 a.m. it is expected the first run of snow plowing will be completed 12:00 p.m.. March 4 Snow Removal

It is Monday, March 4.  Snow plows were out on all City streets last night. 

All sidewalk plows are currently working on completing their areas. 

All roads in the city are currently in the process of being salted.  There was a truck breakdown which has slowed down salting for today but we expect to be completed salting all roads by mid morning today anyhow. 

Please use caution as today's weather has led to slippery conditions.

It is Friday, February 22.  Our crew plowed all roads in the City overnight and sidewalk plows and salt trucks are currently out and have been out since the middle of the night. 

The city wish to advise the public that today's road and sidewalk conditions are slippery due to last night's snow and blowing snow and caution is needed by all who are out and about today. 

If anyone is doing the snow dance could they please stop!

It is Thursday, February 21.  Our crew worked last night to plow all roads in the city and also salt all roads.  Our sidewalk plows have been out also and will be finished of all sidewalks later this morning.  The crew will proceed to salt all sidewalks after plowing is completed.

Last night our crew removed snow from the downtown water street area. 

Today our crew is out widening out streets with our large blower. 

Our other crew is presently out tidying up sidewalks and spreading salt on sidewalks.

Plowing will continue as visibility is low but still safe to continue. Plows went out plowing the snow at 2:00 a.m. and finished around 5:30 a.m.

Salting efforts continue and will be complete by around 10:00 a.m.

Annual Tree Maintenance

The City of Summerside will be conducting scheduled street tree maintenance during the month of October, in order to reduce safety hazards and allow clearances for snow removal equipment. Feb 28 snow storm operations Update

Current forecast is for 3 more cm of snow between now and tomorrow.  The City will be putting the plows back on the roads at 11am for a second pass through.  At 1:00pm the City will have all of our sidewalk plows and salt trucks out to do their routes.  After these operations are completed our next action will be to put the plows back out at 2:30am tonight to tidy everything up for the morning.   Should weather… read more
