Please Help Us Keep Children Safe This Winter

The City of Summerside would like to remind the public to not allow children to build snow forts or dig tunnels near city streets and sidewalks. We are still out there very actively clearing snow in the city and cutting back snow banks. We take all the precautions we can to avoid any accidents but we would greatly appreciate the public’s assistance in keeping everyone safe. Snow Clearing Efforts this Evening and Overnight.

Our 1st plowing run for this snow storm started this morning at 10:30 am. The 2nd at 4:30 pm this afternoon, and 3rd run will begin at 2:30 am tonight. The salt trucks are not out right now as there is currently too much snow on the roads. Once the snowing stops we will begin clearing the sidewalks which will take up to 48 hours to complete. Weather Forecast: Blowing snow to continue into evening, snow accumulation 2-4cm, low of -5 overnight. Snow plowing and Salting Efforts into the Evening of December 4 2013: The Salt trucks will perform their next run this evening after plows remove slush then in the morning at around 5:00 a.m.. Snow plowing and Salting Report as of 13:00 hours: The Salt trucks are continuing salting the roads, main and secondary roads.  Efforts will continue until late this afternoon when weather is to abate. The Snow plows are currently on their second run and extra attention is occuring in the drifting areas.  All areas have received the first clearing efforts of snow.     Snow plowing and Salting Report as of 08:00 hours: The Salt trucks were dispatched at 5:45 a.m.  The main collectors are getting the salt and the side roads will be salted after plowing. The Snow plows were dispatched at 7:30 a.m. it is expected the first run of snow plowing will be completed 12:00 p.m..
